A pond lost under overgrown pond plants

Pond clean outs are one of our most popular services we offer and often we get a call from customers that have just moved into a house which has an existing pond and they have no idea where to start with it, how to care for it or what the options for it even is. This customer was no exception, we arrived on site for an initial consultation to be greeted by a green overgrown mound with a pond somewhere beneath it. After discussing what the customers plans and wants were for the pond, we landed on a full clean out and to heavily reduce the over grown plants allowing more visibility of the pond itself and more swimming space for the fish that were supposedly somewhere beneath the plant life.

We arrived on site on the day of the clean, we set up the temporary holding pen for when we finally came across the fish and got to work. With a lot of effort and time we had removed all the plant matter leaving just a freshly dead headed lily and a couple of marginal plants. We did in fact find some fish but along side them we came across a healthy number of frogs, toads and newts. By the end of the day all the sludge and silt had been removed the pond was drained down and refilled with fresh water and all wildlife and fish returned safely into their clean home.
