Pond Maintenance, Walderslade
A Heavily Stocked Pond In Desperate Need Of A Clean
We received a phone call from Mrs Clarke who was very concerned about her Goldfish in her pond as the water had become gradually filthier as the fish fed, grew and bred in the pond. The filter had also came to a halt and was no longer running. Her usual pond contractor was no longer in business so was desperate to find another. We got out to her in the same week for the initial consultation. Whilst there we discussed what she would like done, we explained the best course of action we think would bring the best result and we landed on a date and time to return to carry out the work however before leaving we quickly dismantled the filter to see if we could get it back to working order ticking over in the mean time which we did, this was definitely a much needed life line for the fish for the time being.
When we returned for the full clean out we did exactly as we had planned out. The resident fish and newts were moved out into a holding pen during the cleaning. All the water was pumped out, the sides of the fibreglass pond were lightly scrubbed down something we don’t usually do due to risk of damage however the customer insisted and we did so with great care and attention. The pond was rinsed down and hoovered out followed by being filled with fresh water and the fish being returned just after we had dosed a tap water conditioning chemical. The plants were also trimmed & deadheaded as well as the filter fully cleaned out and fitted with a new replacement UVC lamp being fitted to help combat green water. The customer was over the moon and was shocked by the number of fish she had accumulated from the years of the Goldfish breeding. We also arranged with another customer of mine with a larger pond to off load some of Mrs Clarke’s Goldfish too.
